Professor Deepanshu Mohan is the Director for Centre for New Economics Studies, Jindal School of Liberal Arts and Humanities, and a Senior Research Fellow, IIHED.  He was recently appointed as a Visiting Professor at the Saw Swee Hock Southeast Asia Centre, London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Visiting Research Fellow at Birkbeck College, School of Social Sciences, University of London. He also teaches a summer course in Comparative Development Studies at the School of International Development and Global Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ottawa.    

  

Over the last decade at JGU, Prof. Mohan had Visiting Honorary Appointments at University of London (U.K), Carleton University (Ottawa), Stellenbosch University (South Africa), FGV (Brazil), American University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia)-to name a few. His research work intersects areas of development studies, political economy, economic anthropology, public law, comparative economic thought. He has published with publishers like Elsevier, Oxford University Press (OUP) London, NUS Singapore, Brill, Routledge-London, and New York to name a few.   

  

His last book, Strongmen Saviours: Political Economy of Populism in India, Turkey, Russia, and Brazil, was published by Routledge (London and New York).  Two of his co-authored upcoming edited books, titled Crisis Narratives: Pan-India Stories of Informal Workers During Covid 19 Pandemic and India’s Vulnerable Workers in Crisis: Perspectives from a Feminist Ethnography Approach are due to be published by Palgrave MacMillan and Routledge (Asia Pacific) in 2024.
